Cool It Burque: Cooling the City Through Urban Forestry

Cool It Burque empowers the community to significantly cool life at ground level by regenerating bare land and restoring the forest canopy, water cycle, and soil carbon sponge. They teach people through free workshops, hands-on projects, and resources to grow native and adapted tree/shrub seedlings, focusing on edible and medicinal plants. They aim to establish a native tree nursery in every neighborhood and introduce islands of biodiversity to Albuquerque through pocket-forests, food forests, Miyawaki forests, and other urban forestry/agroforestry projects. Their mission is to steward low-input, low-maintenance, and resilient urban plant communities, increasing food security and improving safety and quality of life for all beings who call Albuquerque home.
